Moss Wins First Kickboxing Fight

Dawson Moss, a third grader at Comer Elementary School, was able to walk away with a win in his first kickboxing fight Saturday, April 10th 2021 in Villa Rica. Moss trains at Contemporary Martial Arts owned by Chuck Cawthon in Hartwell and coached by his father, Brandon Moss and Professional MMA fighter coach Cee Jay Hamilton.

Martial Artist Wins Gold

Noah Wyckoff competed and earned several medals at the Newbreed Jiu Jitsu Federation Championship on Feb. 20 in Greenville, S.C. at the Greenville Convention Center. He won a gold medal in youth no gi, a silver medal in youth gi and a bronze medal in an older age and heavier weight gi division. Noah trains at Chuck Cawthon's Contemporary Martial Arts in Hartwell.

CMA Wins 1-OF-2 Fights At NFC

Contemporary Martial Arts owner and head instructor Chuck Cawthon was in the corner for two fighters at the National Fighting Championship 130 event on Saturday, March 20th at the District in Atlanta. Pictured left throwing a knee to his opponnent's body, amateur fighter Tyler Barber lost a tight split decision to move his mixed martial arts record to 1-1. Cawthon also cornered former CMA teammate professional fighter Anthoney Canzano, pictured at right in middle, who now fights out of Sanford MMA in Deerfield, Florida. Canzano won his bout via first-round submission with a guillotine choke. Also pictured at right, is coach Chuck Cawthon and, on left profighter Evan Elder.
