12-YEAR-OLD WINS KARATE GOLD

Josue Bravo, a 12 year old junior green belt at Chuck Cawthon's Contemporary Martial Arts, competed at the MUSHINDO INVITATIONAL KARATE TOURNAMENT on Sat., Sept. 14. Josue won a gold medal in the kickboxing division as well as a gold medal in the semi-knockdown division, as well as a silver medal in the point fighting division.

MARTIAL ARTISTS WIN MEDALS

Students from Chuck Cawthon's Contemporary Martial Arts competed, and also raised money, for the Grappling for Good Tour and Tap Cancer Out Charity Tournament on Sept. 28th held at the Cobb County Civic Center. Contemporary Martial Arts Was the fourth top fundraising team, raising $2,668 for the Tap Cancer Out Chairty. Kenly Eavenson, pictured left, earned two gold medals in two different weight classes while also rising $297. Christian Hardin, second from left earned a gold medal. James Goldau, third from left, reached fourth top individual fundraiser having raised $1,379. Noah Wyckoff (Article correction), far right, claimed a silver medal while also raising $603 (article correction).

MARTIAL ARTS STUDENTS WIN MEDALS

Two students from Chuck Cawthon's Contemporary Martial Arts competed on the same day in two different styles of martial arts and in two different states. On Oct. 26th these two juniors went separate ways to represent CMA in two different disciplines. Franklin County High School student Kenly Eavenson (left) competed at the Newbreed Grappling Challenge Fall Open held in Greenville, S.C. He won three gold medals and one silver and competed twice in a heavier weight class. Josue Bravo (right) competed at Kelly Leo's Fall Brawl Karate Tournament held Gainsville, GA. Josue won one gold meddal and one silver medal, while competing up in a older age bracket

LOCAL MMA FIGHTER WINS

National Fighting Championship 122 was held at Monday Night Brewing Garage Friday, Nov 1, featuring three local fighters on the card. Contemporary Martial Arts fighters Chase Pritchett, Christian Hardin and TJ Brown were all on the card. Pritchett fought Leroy Hinton and won via submission in the first round. Christian Hardin fought Mike Bardsley. Hardkin unfortunately made a small mistake in the third round, after winning the second round, and ended up losing via submission. TJ Brown fought Robinson, a much bigger and more experienced fighter on the ground for three grappling rounds, ultimately losing a decision.

LOCAL ATHLETE FINISHES IRON MAN

Lcoal man Jeff Krause competed in the IronMan Triathlon Competition on Saturday, Nov 2 in Panama City Beach, Florida. The race consisted of 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 miles of cycling, topped off with 26.2 run.
