CMA Fighters Compete

Four members of Chuck Cawthon's Contemporary Martial Arts in Hartwell, Fought kickboxing matches in side a cage at The Warrior Combat Challenge held in Gaffney, S.C. on Saturday, Nov 14th. CMA went 4-0 as a team, with one match being stopped via TKO. Tim Cureton's match was against a black belt in karate, his name Alan Oglesby. Gavin Brewe was 0-0 going in and his opponent Jeremy Spera had 3 fights already. Brandon Moss is a blue belt in CMA's BJJ classes, and works full time at the Madison County Sheriff's Department. Moss's opponent was Chris Bracken. Josue Bravo's opponent was Michael Blackwell. Bravo won by TKO refree stoppage in the second round due to leg kicks.

Jiu Jitsu Students Earn Medals

Chuck Cawthon's Contemporary Martial Arts in Hartwell had two Brazilian Jiu Jitsu students compete at Newbreed Jiu Jitsu Federation's Samurai Series tournament held at the Upward Star Center in Spartenburg, S.C. on Saturday, Dec. 12. Noah Wyckoff competed in the beginner teenage gi and no gi divisions where he had eight matches and earned three silver medals. Teven Morrison competed in the adult gi and no gi beginner divisions where he won two gold medals.
